My hubby and I are moving to the Colorado area In February and I am trying to get as much research done as I can about the area We are visiting in November, to see how we love it, but i though I'd get some'expert' viewpoints beforehand. Which town is the safest city to live in near Denver metro? How trustworthy are the transportations ( bus service ) in Denver and outside of Denver? What are the best and worst things on living around Denver metro?
First we spent months researching the area in Colorado that will be best for us, checking population demographics, employment statistical data and geography. After that it was a matter of saving up enough money, finding the best means for moving all our things and our cats and reptiles, then essentially making the move.
Unfortunately, it's getting harder and harder to find places in Colorado not overrun with yuppie visitors in the summer or the ski season. And, quite frankly, those among us old line Coloradans who hate that'vibe' as much as these posters in this thread seem to say they do aren't inclined to publish a list on a Net forum of the few uncrowded decent places left. The places to avoid--if you've heard about it in a national mag, or seen an advertisement on telly about it, or your new york city work-mate tells you about it--well, forget all about it, it has been'discovered.' That takes about every'resort' city off of the list. If it's's on an Interstate, you can just about forget that, too. Inside 150 miles of the Front Range--nope, it's not uncrowded. Ski area? Forget them, too. No worse traveller magnet than those. What's left? Not too much. But there are still some neat places out there.
With Evergreen and Conifer you and your hubby would be around an hour away from Denver. But Winter Park might take you a little longer depending on the weather and the seventy corridor which comes down thru Winter Park then Evergreen and then Golden.
Professional sports teams in Denver include the 1998/1999 back to back, Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado avalanche, and MLB's Colorado Rockies.
